Mathematics is the key to success in today’s technological world. Webster’s math major offers you a combination of theoretical and applied math courses. Math is much more than number crunching and memorization. It is about relationships, patterns, logic, and analytical skills. Math is problem solving. In today’s world, companies want people who can work independently and with others to solve problems. Webster’s math program will equip you with these and other skills. We value the beauty and power of mathematics and our goal is to give every student the best possible opportunity to understand the material and succeed.

Webster has a very high completion rate among its majors in mathematics.  Courses are designed to promote good study skills and cooperative learning.  In the special math work area, which adjoins teachers' offices, it is not unusual to see one student using the white board to explain a problem to classmates while another group of students compare their work with the solution book.  Classes are limited to twenty-five students, with junior or senior level math courses often having fewer than ten students.

More than one half of our students majoring in mathematics earn a second major, such as Education or Computer Science.  Some earn certification for teaching middle or high school mathematics. It is not unusual for our pre-service mathematics teachers to be hired by the district in which they do their apprentice teaching.  Supervisors have first hand information on how well they manage the classroom and understand the content.

This degree is offered as a bachelor of arts (B.A.) or bachelor of sciecne (B.A.) degree.

Recent opportunities include internships/practicing teaching) at:
