Log In to Webster

Scholarship funds are awarded each year to new students who intend to enroll at Webster University for the following fall or spring semester.

Scholarship Application Guidelines:

  1. Applicants must be seeking their first baccalaureate degree.
  2. Applicants should have a cumulative grade average of B or better (as calculated by Webster University) on all prior work attempted in high school and/or college.
  3. Applicants must have been accepted to the University as degree-seeking.
  4. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  5. Unless otherwise noted, applicants must be enrolled at the Webster Groves campus only.
  6. Scholarships are not applicable to summer session unless otherwise noted.

Scholarship awards to new students in 2007–08 range from $3,000 to full tuition and are generally renewable at the same level if the required academic progress conditions are met. Awards apply only to fall and spring semester tuition charges at Webster.

Scholarship funds donated to Webster University for specific needs and purposes are awarded to eligible students by the University’s Scholarship Committee. These funds carry special eligibility requirements and conditions. Scholarship criteria are subject to change. Institutional scholarships apply to tuition costs only. Tuition assistance such as vocational rehabilitation or tuition remission may affect a student’s eligibility for institutional scholarship awards.

Unless otherwise indicated, all scholarships are based on full-time, flat-fee (13 to 18 credit hours) enrollment for consecutive terms until required credit hours for graduation (128) are completed.

All grade point averages (G.P.A.s) are cumulative and are calculated on all previous academic work. For transfers, previous academic work includes all attempted credits at accredited institutions from which Webster accepts transfer credit.

How To Apply

New incoming students are automatically awarded the highest dollar-amount academic scholarship for which they qualify at the time their file is reviewed for admission to the University.

In addition to a Webster Academic Scholarship, there are a number of other scholarship awards available to freshmen and transfer students, most of which require a separate application. Detailed information for all scholarships, as well as downloadable applications, can be found at our financial aid Web site.

Scholarship applicants should also consider applying for any need-based funds by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Webster University institutional financial aid form. To meet all federal and state deadlines, it is recommended these forms be submitted by March 1. The FAFSA is available at the Webster University Financial Aid Office, your high school guidance office, or college financial aid office. The FAFSA may be submitted after January 1 to the federal processing center listed on the form. Be sure to include Webster’s college code (002521) on your application. Webster will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) with your information from the processing center. Students who have applied to the University and have been accepted for admission will then be reviewed for any aid for which they might be eligible. For further information or questions, please call the Financial Aid Office at 1-800-WU-FINAD or 314-968-6992.

International Student Scholarships

Webster University established the Webster International Network Scholarship (WINS) Program to provide partial tuition assistance to a limited number of academically talented international students. Awards are offered at the St. Louis, Geneva, Leiden, Vienna, and Hua Hin/Cha-am campuses. Webster University at Regent’s College has a separate scholarship program. Contact the Admission Office at each campus for specific information.

Scholarship applicants should complete the application for admission by 1 March. The subsequent scholarship review process is both competitive and merit-based.

Each applicant’s file is reviewed individually for evidence of demonstrated academic scholarship; the ability to achieve significant academic outcomes at the University; evidence that he/she has potential to become a campus and community leader; and awareness of and respect for the expanding network of global scholars and leaders.

The monetary range for scholarships funded through WINS can range up to approximately one-half the full-time tuition charge in the awardee’s first year of enrollment at the University. For example, awards at the St. Louis campus currently range from US$2,000 to US$8,000, approximately one-half the current full-time flat-fee tuition charge. However, the University’s Scholarship Committee may, in a specific instance, choose to make a higher award if they believe the case involves documented financial need and/or exceptional academic merit.

Scholarships normally begin with the applicant’s first fall semester at Webster. Once awarded, Webster Scholarships are renewable during each year of undergraduate study provided the awardee maintains satisfactory academic progress, is consistently enrolled, and does not exceed the number of credit hours required for graduation from the University. Each awardee receives a scholarship contract that details the terms and conditions of his/her award, and is limited to one (1) scholarship award funded through University funds.
