It is a well-known fact that new college students who live on campus have higher G.P.A.s, become more involved in campus activities, and are more likely to earn a diploma than those who live off-campus.
To maximize this advantage, Webster University opened two new residence halls at the main campus in St. Louis this fall, and opened a new dormitory at the Geneva, Switzerland, campus in 2005.
With the opening of two new $16 million residence halls, all "out-of-town" freshmen studying at the St. Louis location will be required to live on campus for their first two years. "Out-of-town" students are defined as those living outside a 35-mile radius of the main campus. The brand-new housing facilities feature semi-private bathrooms, high- speed Internet access, the ability to watch cable TV from laptops and more.
For the 2008-09 academic year, housing options for first-time freshman include West Hall in the New Residence Hall Complex, Maria Hall, and a limited number of spaces in the Webster Village Apartments. Transfer students, as well as returning sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students may apply for housing in the Webster Village Apartments, Maria Hall or East Hall in the New Residence Hall Complex.
For more information about the differences in these living options, check out the room size comparison chart.
Campus housing applications are generally accepted throughout the year; however, given the popularity of living on campus and the variety of living options, the general rule is, "the earlier the application is made, the better."
Freshmen applications for housing need to coincide with application for admission to the University. Current and returning students can re-apply for housing for an upcoming year during the fall semester of the current academic year.
