What are the requirements of health insurance?

If this is your first time living away from your family, you may never have had reason to think about health insurance before.  Unlike many other nations, the U.S. does not provide universal medical coverage. In the United States, health care is too expensive for most people to afford.

This is especially true in emergency situations. For this reason, Medical insurance is essential.  Insurance reimburses your medical provider for a large portion of your health care costs when they arise, making the care more affordable to you. Insurance can be expensive, but the cost of unexpected medical treatment is often much more costly.  Webster University requires that you purchase health insurance to defray the cost of medical care while in the Unites States.

As of Fall 2007, international students are required to purchase the Webster University Insurance plan.  For more information, please contact Webster University Health Services. [link to http://www.webster.edu/studlife/health/req.html#ins]
