Your coursework will be evaluated by the Registrar's Office and departmental faculty to determine course equivalencies. Please refer to the Webster University Undergraduate Catalog to review the specific courses required for your intended major.

Each department may also require a minimum number of courses in the major be completed at Webster. Courses required for the major must be completed with a grade of "C" or better.

General Education Requirements

General education requirements ensure that your education is well rounded. Webster's General Education requirement is designed to allow you to focus on your individual interests and abilities by allowing you to choose courses within a variety of categories.

For most Bachelor of Arts degree students at Webster, a total of 27 semester hours is required from nine areas of skills and knowledge: Critical Thinking, Communications, Historical Consciousness, Humanities, Values, Cultural Understanding, Arts Appreciation, Scientific Understanding and Mathematics.

You will choose 3 credit hours from a broad selection of courses within each of these nine areas. Students seeking the Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Music, or designated Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science programs must complete a total of 12 credit hours from four of the above subject areas.

Students in the School of Communications must complete 36 semester hours of general education distributed across three designated categories. Courses used to satisfy General Education requirements must be completed with a grade of C or better.

If you have completed an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Fine Arts (A.F.A.) degree, or have completed the approved Missouri state general education program (as designated by the CBHE Model General Education program), you will have automatically satisfied Webster's General Education requirement.

Completion of the Missouri general education block or the A.A. or A.F.A. degree must be designated on your official transcript. If you transfer without an A.A., A.F.A. or the Missouri CBHE approved program, your General Education credits will be evaluated on a course by course basis.
