Special events and speakers also routinely visit campus and have included guests speakers such as U.S. Ambassador to Thailand William Itoh who spoke about “Globalization: Economic and Social Change in Today’s World.”

International relations professor Susan Landfield, for example, has an M.A. in International Relations from Yale University, and has worked with refugees as a manager for an American non-governmental organization (NGO) in two war zones—Somalia and Sudan. She has prior experience as a program manager for a Dutch NGO in the Caucasus nations of Azerbaijan and Georgia. She is also a published author on humanitarianism issues and an international election monitor in Macedonia and Georgia for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
