Learning to work and live with people from many different cultures is as important as the subjects our students study. The distinguished international faculty represents more than 15 nations. Professors are accomplished scholars and graduates of prominent institutions such as Harvard University, Cambridge University, and Columbia University. Most are also successful professionals in the subjects they teach.
In addition, Webster Vienna is known for its thriving art programs as generations of students, artists, and “connoisseurs of living” have sought out the city’s rich history of art, music, and museums.
The Visual Culture program in Vienna is an integral part of the Art Department at the home campus in St. Louis. Students can integrate the experience of a campus exchange into their studies. Courses utilize the rich and varied resources of the city—a living laboratory of art spanning the centuries from the prehistoric Venus of Willendorf to cutting- edge contemporary art. In fact, with more than 100 museums in Vienna alone, our students can view art normally seen only in history books. They can be involved with contemporary art activities through courses, and internships with local artists are routinely arranged.
Internships, Events, and Study Trips
Since work experiences form a vital part of your education, the Vienna campus offers a wealth of internship opportunities to gain a competitive edge in your career.
Prominent international companies participate in the University’s thriving internship program. They include Coca- Cola-Amatil, IBM, AT&T, Ericsson, OPEC, Citibank, the Austrian Foreign Ministry, the International Helsinki Federation, Daimler-Chrysler, International Press Institute, and the European Union. Many of our graduates are hired by international companies and have opportunities to work in locations throughout the world.
Webster Vienna’s Partners in Education program allows corporations to sponsor curricular programs. In addition to attending class, employees of the companies help evaluate the curriculum for its reality-based application. Participants include the City of Vienna, Glaxo Wellcome Pharma GmbH, and Europa Treuhand Ernst & Young.
Special events, lectures, and programs underscore the depth and scope of Webster’s commitment to international education. Recent events featured international authors, a communications expert, noteworthy journalists, and business professionals.
Each year, students take study trips to various parts of the world. Trips that have been taken include art history and photography in Venice, Italy; international media in Johannesburg, South Africa; psychology in San Francisco, California, U.S.A.; and professional management development in the Canary Islands, Spain and Algarve, Portugal.
